For propagation and maintenance of E. Coli. Low Salt Formula. Molecular
Biology Grade.
Dissolve 20 grams in 1 liter distilled water. Then adjust the pH to 7.2.
Heat and frequently agitate to completely dissolve. Material is specially
granulated to reduce dust and increase solubility rate. Sterilize by
autoclaving for 15 minutes.

- Yeast Extract: 5 g/L

SOB Broth is recommended for use in cultivation of recombinant strains of
E. Coli. It is a nutritionally rich growth medium for use in the
preparation and transformation of competent cells.
Add two capsules to one liter of distilled water. Heat and stir gently to
completely dissolve medium. Sterilize by autoclaving at 121°C for 15
minutes.
Final Solution contains:
- Casein Enzymic Hydrolysate: 20 g/L
- Yeast Extract: 5 g/L
- Sodium Chloride: 0.5 g/L
- Magnesium Sulfate: 2.4 g/L
- Potassium Chloride: 0.186 g/L
