Culture Tubes

  • Available in Polypropylene or Polystyrene
  • Dual-position snap Caps attached or ordered separately
  • Molded graduations on attached cap versions
  • Sterile, RNase, DNase, pyrogen, and cytotoxin free
  • Compatible with all standard equipment

These culture tubes are available in both 12 × 75 mm (5 mL) or 17 × 100 mm (14 mL) capacities. Low-density polyethylene (LDPE) snap caps can be attached in two positions. The first position allows for the flow of air both in and out of the tube enabling aerobic culturing. The second position offers a leak-proof and air-tight seal making it ideal for anaerobic culturing and/or sample storage.

The tubes are available in two plastic polymers. Crystal clear polystyrene (PS) tubes withstand temperatures from 0°C to 70°C, while durable transparent polypropylene (PP) tubes withstand temperatures from -86°C to 121°C.

Tubes are available with caps attached and printed graduations or without caps and graduation-free. Polystyrene tubes may be centrifuged at up to 2000xg. Polypropylene tubes withstand higher centrifugal forces, up to 4000xg.

All tubes and caps come sterilized to SAL 10-6 and are RNase, DNase, pyrogen, and cytotoxin-free.

DuoClick™ Two Position Screw-Cap Culture Tubes

  • New patent pending screw-cap!
  • Aerobic culturing at first click
  • Anaerobic after second click
  • Printed graduations
  • Flat, markable screw-cap

DuoClick™ tubes feature a unique, patent pending screw closure system. DuoClick™ tubes completely eliminate the excess force, splashing and general frustration of traditional snap-cap culture tubes. The advanced cap design includes two distinct positions for aerobic and anaerobic culturing. Just rotate the cap 1/4 turn to the first click to secure the cap in the aerobic position. Or, rotate it another 1/2 turn past the second click for a leakproof, airtight seal for anaerobic culturing.

DuoClick™ tubes are available gamma sterilized, with screw caps attached, and in our exclusive ready-to- use rack packaging. Polypropylene tubes can be centrifuged at up to 4,000 x g.

FlowTubes for Flow Cytometry Instruments

  • Compatible with FACS instruments
  • Available with 35um strainer cap, standard cap, or no cap
  • Clear polystyrene
  • 5mL capacity

Designed for Fluorescence Activated Cell Sorting/ flow cytometry equipment these flow tubes are made of crystal clear polystyrene and are 12x75mm.

To ensure consistent compatibility with the automated instrument the diameter and wall thickness is held to very tight tolerances.  The tubes are available with the standard two-position culture cap, no cap at all, or with a cap that contains a 35um nylon mesh screen.  They are primarily used to collect dissociated sample for subsequent processing in automated flow cytometry instruments.

5mL Snap-Cap MacroTubes®

  • Compatible with standard equipment
  • Easy-open flip top
  • Syringe port in cap
  • Unsurpassed Clarity
  • Dual graduations at every 0.2mL and 0.5mL

5mL MacroTubes® scale up the conveniences of standard 1.5mL tubes for larger volumes. These polypropylene tubes come with an attached cap that provides a tight, leak proof seal, and can also be opened (or closed) with one hand. The cap is designed to provide a secure seal from -86°C to +80°C.

They have the same diameter as standard 15mL tubes for compatibility with centrifuge rotors, etc. In many applications, they have replaced 15mL tubes, reducing plastic waste, storage space and shipping costs. Contamination of pipettor shafts can be eliminated because the tube length is short enough for standard 1mL and/or 5mL tips to reach the tube's conical bottom.

Dimensions: 16.5 x 54mm (not including rim and cap)

Maximum Centrifugal Force: 25,000 x g (when properly supported in appropriate rotor)

AS5MLSNAPTUBES

5 mL Microcentrifuge Tubes with Screw Cap

Our new 5mL MacroTube has the convenience of a 1.5mL tube but scaled up for larger Vols. In many cases, these can replace 15mL tubes, dramatically reducing plastic waste, storage space and shipping costs. Additionally, the 56mm length (vs. 120mm for 15mL tubes, greatly reduces the risk of contamination of pipettor shafts, allowing 1mL or 5mL tips to easily reach the bottom.

The tubes are made of high clarify, low binding virgin polypropylene and are certified RNase/DNase free. The 16mm diameter is identical to standard 15mL tubes, thus ensuring compatibility with existing centrifuge rotors. Other equipment, specially designed for 5mL tubes is available.

The MacroTubes are suppled with 20mm(OD) caps that seal smoothly and completely with a single 360° turn. Useable from -86 °C to 110 °C, they are a valuable vessel for boiling and low temperature sample preservation. Choose from non-sterile bulk packaging, or sterile rack packaging (upright in foam racks with caps attached).

Specifications:

  • Compatible with standard equipment
  • Withstands up to 25,000 X g
  • Dual graduations (at every .2mL and .5mL)
  • Unsurpassed clarity
  • RNase and DNase free

AS5MLTUBES

New and Improved 5mL centrifuge tubes from MIDSCI. These polypropylene tubes come with an attached cap that provides a leak proof seal and can be effortlessly opened with one hand. The cap is designed to provide a secure seal from -86°C to 180°C. In incubated, heating applications, the tube may be boiled for up to 10 minutes. A cap lock is available for temperatures above 80°C (C1005-T5-CAP). The tubes are made of maximum clarity, low-binding virgin polypropylene and are certified RNase and DNase free. Sterile tubes are also available and packaged in bags of 10 tubes.

The 16mm diameter is identical to the diameter of standard 15mL tubes, which ensures further compatibility with centrifuge rotors and other applications. Compared to 15 mL tubes, the threat of pipettor shaft contamination is greatly reduced as the 56mm total tube length (compared to 120mm for 15 mL conicals) is short enough for standard 1 mL tips to reach the 5mL tubes conical bottom.

The syringe port in the cap is not only useful for needle and syringe access, but also can be useful for venting internal pressure that has built up due to incubation at higher temperatures.

  • Easy flip open top
  • High clarity, virgin polypropylene
  • Syringe port in cap
  • Compatible with standard equipment for 15 mL conicals
  • Dual graduations (at every 0.5 and 0.2 mL)
