SuperClear™ Culture Tubes and Caps
- Ultra-clear resin
- Colored tubes available
- Medical grade (U.S.P.) packaging
- Thicker walls will not crush
These precision-molded, conical and round bottom tubes are perfect for a multitude of general laboratory uses. Precision crafted of extra clear virgin polypropylene in natural and colors or clear virgin polystyrene. Tube caps are made of low-density polyethylene for a secure seal and are available in a fluted plug style or dual position design that permits sample aspiration.
Polypropylene tubes are autoclavable to 122°C and freezable to -80°C. Polystyrene tubes are not autoclavable but have a nominal temperature range between 90°C and -40°C. Polyethylene caps are not autoclavable but are available pre-sterilized with many of the tube packages.
Polypropylene tubes can be centrifuged to 3000 RCF and polystyrene tubes will withstand 1500 RCF. (RCF; Relative Centrifugal Force, is not equivalent to RPM)
Gel Crusher™ Spin Column
- Creates uniform gel fragments with no chunks
- Fits in standard microtubes
- Increases DNA yield
- For use in molecular cloning, PCR, restriction digestions, sequencing, and labeling protocols
- Fits 2 mL receiver tubes
MTC Bio’s Gel Crusher™ Spin Columns are designed to replace labor-intensive gel fragmentation steps (crush+soak method, etc.). Commonly used in molecular cloning, PCR, restriction digestions, sequencing, and labeling protocols, these spin columns can be used to fragment gel slices (typically cut with a gel extractor or razor blade) into smaller pieces.
These smaller uniform pieces will produce greater yields and can be easily pipetted using wide bore tips into an NaCl solution. This reduces the time to create a fine slurry for further elution, filtration, incubation, etc. Place the Gel Crusher™ column in the 2 mL microtube and centrifuge the column/tube assembly in a standard benchtop microcentrifuge for 5 minutes at maximum speed (generally approximately 15,000 x g).
The gel will be forced through the 600 uM holes into the 2 mL receiver tube. The crushed fragments will be small enough to be aspirated/dispensed through a pipette tip.

Multi-Purpose Test Tubes 12 x 75 mm
Precision-molded from premium-grade plastics and ideal for routine laboratory analysis and procedures. We have applied the lessons learned from over 27 years of manufacturing experience to produce tubes that perform at their highest level. Our tubes are rigorously inspected by our Quality Assurance Department to ensure they surpass our exacting specifications. These tubes are ideal for a wide range of laboratory applications. They are available in several sizes, and from three materials, to meet a variety of needs.
- - All of the tubes are plastic (polystyrene, polypropylene or polypropylene-copolymer), thus preventing the problem of broken glass.
- - Polypropylene is chemically resistant, autoclavable and virtually unbreakable.
- - Polystyrene is clear like glass.
Note that caps are ordered separately. These tubes are not available sterile.
