Multi-Swipe™ Plate-Sealing Paddles
For sealing flat-top and raised-rim plates.
Application: Plate-sealing
Material: Polyethylene
The Multi-Swipe plate-sealing paddle ensures a secure and uniform, pressure-sensitive seal around all wells and is an economical alternative to plate rollers. Plate-sealing paddles are designed for use with all plate types.
- Reusable, recyclable
- The semi-soft, pliable sealing surfaces prevent the film/foil from being torn or ripped
- The non-flat contoured side is designed to go down to the plate; the center raised textured surface provides a non-slip finger hold
- Features two sealing surfaces: the shorter length fits inside the walls of raised-rim plates; the longer length is ideal for flat-top and deep-well plates
- Features two unique sized corner radii: 1/8 inch (0.3175 centimeter) and 1/16 inch (0.1588 centimeter) to seal around the plate perimeter; the tighter radii is for use with raised-rim PCR plates
Helpful Tips
- The printed side is used to seal the film to the plate
- Multiple swipes of the sealing paddle in both directions is highly recommended
- A 10 minute or greater dwell time at room temperature before processing increases the film-to-plate bond

Gel Crusher™ Spin Column
- Creates uniform gel fragments with no chunks
- Fits in standard microtubes
- Increases DNA yield
- For use in molecular cloning, PCR, restriction digestions, sequencing, and labeling protocols
- Fits 2 mL receiver tubes
MTC Bio’s Gel Crusher™ Spin Columns are designed to replace labor-intensive gel fragmentation steps (crush+soak method, etc.). Commonly used in molecular cloning, PCR, restriction digestions, sequencing, and labeling protocols, these spin columns can be used to fragment gel slices (typically cut with a gel extractor or razor blade) into smaller pieces.
These smaller uniform pieces will produce greater yields and can be easily pipetted using wide bore tips into an NaCl solution. This reduces the time to create a fine slurry for further elution, filtration, incubation, etc. Place the Gel Crusher™ column in the 2 mL microtube and centrifuge the column/tube assembly in a standard benchtop microcentrifuge for 5 minutes at maximum speed (generally approximately 15,000 x g).
The gel will be forced through the 600 uM holes into the 2 mL receiver tube. The crushed fragments will be small enough to be aspirated/dispensed through a pipette tip.
Reversible Racks
- Alphanumeric markings and are supplied in packs of 5.
- Choose 60 well (5 x 12) or 96 well (8 x 12) formats
- Reversible racks, accept 0.5 and 1.5 to 2.0 mL microtubes
- Alphanumeric marking on each well

Azure ChemiWriter ECL Pen
Chemiluminescent pen for blot annotation
The Azure ChemiWriter ECL Western blot annotation pen is a chemiluminescent marker that enables you to write or draw on your transfer membranes, resulting in a chemiluminescent signal on your markings once substrate is added. Contains a reagent that reacts with HRP substrates to produce chemiluminescence and also a blue dye to allow you to see markings as you write on the Western blot.
Use for tracing visible protein ladders or making identifying marks on your Western blots. Pen has two tips on each end: one fine-tipped for thin markings and one thicker for depositing more of the reagent.
Quantity: 1 pen
Features
Enables you to write or draw on your transfer membranes. A chemiluminescent signal will be detectable from your markings once chemiluminescent substrate is added.
- Use for tracing visible protein ladders or making identifying marks on your blots. Pen has two tips on each end: one fine-tipped for thin markings and one thicker for depositing more of the reagent.
- There are two heads to the pen, a fine point tip and a thicker chisel point tip.
- We recommend using the fine point tip to annotate the blot and mark protein ladders for detection.
- The chisel point of the pen can be used to deposit an increased amount of reagent on the blot for more intense signal.
- For best results we recommend annotating your blot after transfer and before starting your Western blotting protocol.
- Once annotated, the blot may be stored dry or wet, refrigerated or at room temperature.
- Storage: pen should be stored tightly closed at room temperature. ChemiWriter ECL reagent and blue ink markings on the blot are stable for at least three months.
