Azure ChemiWriter ECL Pen
Chemiluminescent pen for blot annotation
The Azure ChemiWriter ECL Western blot annotation pen is a chemiluminescent marker that enables you to write or draw on your transfer membranes, resulting in a chemiluminescent signal on your markings once substrate is added. Contains a reagent that reacts with HRP substrates to produce chemiluminescence and also a blue dye to allow you to see markings as you write on the Western blot.
Use for tracing visible protein ladders or making identifying marks on your Western blots. Pen has two tips on each end: one fine-tipped for thin markings and one thicker for depositing more of the reagent.
Quantity: 1 pen
Features
Enables you to write or draw on your transfer membranes. A chemiluminescent signal will be detectable from your markings once chemiluminescent substrate is added.
- Use for tracing visible protein ladders or making identifying marks on your blots. Pen has two tips on each end: one fine-tipped for thin markings and one thicker for depositing more of the reagent.
- There are two heads to the pen, a fine point tip and a thicker chisel point tip.
- We recommend using the fine point tip to annotate the blot and mark protein ladders for detection.
- The chisel point of the pen can be used to deposit an increased amount of reagent on the blot for more intense signal.
- For best results we recommend annotating your blot after transfer and before starting your Western blotting protocol.
- Once annotated, the blot may be stored dry or wet, refrigerated or at room temperature.
- Storage: pen should be stored tightly closed at room temperature. ChemiWriter ECL reagent and blue ink markings on the blot are stable for at least three months.
Azure Chemi Blot Blocking Buffer
This Chemi Blot Blocking Buffer was formulated to enhance signal and lower background by improving sensitivity. Enhances specific antibody-antigen interactions specifically for chemiluminescent Western blots.
- Provided as a 1x ready-to-use solution- no mixing or dilutions required.
- Size: 500mL
Features
Western blot membranes should be incubated in blocking buffer before antibody hybridization to prevent non-specific binding of antibodies. Blocking buffer can also be used for diluting primary and secondary antibodies during hybridization.

Azure Blot Washing Buffer
Wash buffers are an important part of the blotting process for removing unhybridized antibody and preventing background signal.
Blot washing buffer for use with Azure Imaging Systems, or any other Western blotting system.
- Provided as a 10x concentrated solution
- Size: 500mL
NOTE: While this Blot Washing Buffer is compatible with NIR Fluorescent Western blots, for the best results with NIR fluorescence, we recommend the Azure Fluorescent Blot Washing Buffer.
Azure Protein-free Blot Blocking Buffer
Protein-free blocking solution optimized for fluorescent Immunoblots and Western blots
Does not contain proteins. Azure Protein-Free Blot Blocking Buffer can reduce background in Western blots where the primary antibodies tend to cross-react with protein blockers like BSA, casein or milk protein. For low-quality primary antibodies that may require protein-based blocking agents, BSA or non-fat dry milk can be dissolved directly in the Azure Protein-Free Blot Blocking Buffer and then used to dilute the antibody.
Best used with assays where animal-based product usage is prohibited. Serves as an excellent blocking reagent for chemiluminescent Western blotting.
- Provided as a 5x solution
- Size: 200mL

Azure Nitrocellulose Membranes
Pre-cut Nitrocellulose membrane for Western blotting
Low-fluorescence Nitrocellulose membranes are available in both 0.45 μm and 0.22 μm pore sizes to accommodate larger and smaller proteins, respectively. We recommend using the .45 µm pore size for the most analytical blotting: protein, ssDNA, and RNA transfers.
- Low molecular weight proteins
- Typically used for chemiluminescence
- Not ideal for stripping
- Excellent binding properties
Quantity: 10 membranes each
Azure PVDF Membranes
Pre-cut PVDF membranes for Western blotting applications
Ideal for chemiluminescent and colorimetric Western blotting. Pre-cut to save you time in the lab. These low-fluorescence PVDF membranes reduce background noise and nonspecific protein binding for improved sensitivity. Available in three different pre-cut sizes.
Quantity: 10 membranes per package
Features
Low-fluorescence PVDF membranes reduce background noise for improved sensitivity. PVDF (polyvinylidene difluoride) membranes are commonly used for immunoblotting techniques, like Western blots. During the blotting process, samples are transferred from the protein gel onto a PVDF membrane by electroblotting. From there they can be used for protein sequencing.
- High binding capacity is great for low-expressing proteins
- Typically used for fluorescence
- High protein retention for stripping and reprobing
