Lab Homogenizers
In need of a homogenizer? We have the handheld or benchtop homogenizers you’re looking for.
With a wide selection of products to choose from, our product line is sure to meet your needs.
If you’re looking for a convenient, but quite powerful, handheld lab homogenizer then the PRO250 is ideal for you while the D1000 handheld homogenizer is perfect for use with microtubes.
When you need to agitate numerous samples at a time, then it may be best to consider the Mini-Beadbeater-16, which can handle four to sixteen samples all at once.
If you have tissue that’s been hard-frozen in liquid nitrogen and need to reduce it to a fine powder, then consider the numerous Bio-Pulverizers in our product line.
Most importantly, we carry Bullet Blenders! Among a ton of other benefits, these homogenizers avoid cross-contamination between samples and sample loss.
BioPulverizer
The Bio-Pulverizer reduces tissue hard-frozen in liquid nitrogen to a fine powder. Called freeze-fracturing, this method is especially useful for tough, fibrous tissues such as skin, cartilage, cornea, etc. The Bio-Pulverizer consists of a hole machined in a stainless steel base, into which fits a special piston. In a typical procedure, up to 10g of animal or plant tissue is hard-frozen in liquid nitrogen and placed in the pre-chilled Bio-Pulverizer. The piston is mounted on an easy to use trigger mechanism that is squeezed to deliver a blow to the brittle tissue reducing it to a fine powder. Freeze fracturing with the Bio-Pulverizer is also useful for extracting labile tissue metabolites and as a preliminary step to other homogenization techniques. 2 year warranty
How the Bio-Pulverizer Works
- Place the Bio-Pulverizer in the insulated container and cool thoroughly with either liquid nitrogen (preferred) or a dry-ice/alcohol mixture.
- Place pre-frozen tissue in the well of the mortar. Re-insert the pestle into the well.
- Remove the mortar from the insulated container and pulverize the tissue with one or two blows to the pestle.
- Invert the mortar and empty the powdered contents for subsequent homogenization or extraction procedure.

Benchmark™ BenchMasher™ 400 Paddle Blender
- Contamination free mixing/homogenizing of samples
- Touch screen control with variable mixing speed and temperature control
- Adjustable stroke length
- Built in UV light for chamber decontamination
The BenchMasher™ provides fast and effective mixing, ensuring consistent homogenization. It is ideal for preparation of samples were eliminating contamination is critical, such as pathogen and microbial detection in food and water filters. However, its use is not limited to those areas - the BenchMasher™ has applications anywhere larger solid samples need broken down or products such as powders and polymers need mixed.
Samples up to 400 mL are conveniently loaded in the sterile blender bags which are sealed upon closing the door. Mixing paddles rapidly strike the bags, producing thorough mixing and homogenization without ever directly contacting the sample. Programming is user friendly - mixing speed and cycle time are easily adjusted on the large, full color touch screen. Paddle position can be adjusted to ensure efficient processing of samples. For applications requiring thermal regulation (such as Trichinella testing in meat) the chamber can be heated and maintained at temperatures up to 65°C.
The door is removable for access to the chamber and stainless steel mixing paddles. Each paddle includes a convenient rubber cover that is easily removed or replaced. A UV light (254 nm) is built into the chamber and can be activated at any time to perform complete decontamination.

The Mini-Beadbeater-16 is a high-energy cell disrupter designed to handle four to sixteen samples at a time.
The Mini-BeadBeater-16 disrupts microbial cells and plant and animal tissue by violently agitating four to sixteen 2 ml screw-cap microvials containing small glass, ceramic or steel beads and disruption buffer. Even resistant samples like yeast, spores or fibrous tissue are completely homogenized around 3 minutes in 0.1 to 1 ml of extraction medium. The non-foaming, aerosol-free method preserves enzymes and organelles. In the presence of nucleic acid extraction media such as phenol, Gu-SCN or a commercial kit solution, DNA or RNA is recovered in the highest possible yield. The method is ideal for PAGE, PCR applications and diagnostics using antibody or oligonucleotide probes. Because the beads and vials are disposable, there is absolutely Zero cross-contamination between samples - essential for PCR techniques.

Pulse 650™ Ultrasonic Homogenizer
- 650 W of power for cell disruption, homogenization, emulsification and more
- Large touch screen with total control over operating parameters
- Supplied complete with controller, 6 mm horn, motorized stand and soundproof enclosure
- Stackable, space-saving design
- Lighted chamber for easy sample visualization
- UV-C chamber sterilization function
Like the smaller Pulse 150™, the Pulse 650™ utilizes ultrasonic waves and cavitation to disrupt cells, shear DNA and create emulsions. With up to 650 watts of power, samples from 0.1 mL to 500 mL can be processed. Pulsed operation, power ratios and other operating parameters are easily set using the large touch screen. Alarms alert the user to over temperature, over/no load and expiration of time.
The Pulse 650 is complete with everything needed for operation, including a soundproof enclosure for reducing noise levels. The low-profile controller and soundproof enclosure are stackable to save valuable bench space. The enclosure features interior lights and a large front panel for viewing samples. A remote controlled, motorized lift provides easy probe placement. Between uses, the chamber can be decontaminated with the UV-C lights to help prevent cross contamination.
Six horns, from 2 mm to 12 mm, are available to meet sample volume requirements. The Pulse 650 is supplied with the 6 mm horn as standard, for processing samples from 10-100 mL.
Tissue-Tearor
AWAY FROM ELECTIRCAL LINES? The model 780CL Cordless Tissue-Tearor includes a cordless, high speed motor, one probe of your choice, one rechargable 9.6 volt battery pack and a plug-in charger. The maximum speed of the 780CL is slightly slower than the line-operated TissueTearor (25,000 vs 35,000 rpm), it is quite adequate for homogenizing soft tissue like muscle, liver, brain, etc.
- Use for mixing, emulsification, shredding, or chopping.
- Practical answer for small samples.
- Easy to hold and light weight for one hand operation. Can also be stand mounted.
- Autoclavable stainless steel probes. Inert to aggressive solutions.
- All probes are interchangable probes and are easily removed for cleanup.
- High speed motor. Speed control from 5,000 to 25,000 rpm.
The Tissue-Tearor is a rotor/stator type tissue homogenizer which can rapidly homogenize, disperse, and emulsify samples in 0.2 - 1000 mL of liquid. During operation, the suspended material is drawn into the core of the homogenizer by a rotor turning at up to 25,000 rpm. The material is repeatedly cycled through six narrow slits in the stator where it is rapidly sheared and disintegrated by high frequency mechanical action. Complete homogenization of tissues (muscle, liver, breast tissue, etc.) is usually achieved in ten to thirty seconds. Little, if any, heat is produced during the process.
Unlike most other Brands of rotor/stator type homogenizers, the Tissue-Tearor comes complete - that is, with both a motor and a probe (aka, generator, dispersing tool) - both included in one price.
Specifications
- Sample Volume Range: 0.3 to 1000 ml, depending on the probe selected (see table below).
