Stuart Hotplate

A heated glass ceramic plate mounted in a block of pure PTFE creates a powerful hotplate which is almost impervious to chemical attack, even by concentrated acids.

When boiling acid solutions the CP300 is unaffected by the fumes and splashes which eventually destroy conventional hotplates. The chemical inertness of the PTFE body and ceramic top plate also means that much more aggressive cleaning agents can be used. For example, if all traces of metal must be removed, this hotplate can be washed with concentrated nitric acid!

The separate temperature controller is connected to the hotplate via a 2 metre PTFE coated lead. This allows the hotplate to be located in a fume cupboard and the controller kept outside, well away from the corrosive environment. The controller is also fitted with a "Hot" warning light that will flash whenever the plate temperature of the hotplate is above 50° C and it will continue to operate when the hotplate is turned off and connected to the electricity supply. The hotplate has a large 200 mm square heated area so is ideal for heating either one large vessel or several smaller ones.

Stuart Analog Hotplate

Stylish and economical general purpose hotplate stirrers designed with safety as well as performance in mind. The compact shape takes up less bench space and makes storage easier. The hotplate has an innovative LED temperature indicator scale and can also be used in conjunction with the SCT1 digital contact thermometer to accurately control sample temperature.

The "Hot" warning light will flash whenever the plate temperature is above 50° C even when the hotplate is turned off and unplugged from the mains. Powerful magnets and motor give stirring speeds up to 2,000 rpm and is capable of mixing large volumes (up to 15 L).

Model UC152 has a glass ceramic top which has excellent chemical resistance. The surface is easy to clean and the thermal properties allow very high plate temperatures while ensuring the edges stay cooler, reducing the chance of accidental burns. The white surface ensures good visibility of colour changes.

The hotplate stirrers have an integral fitting for a retort rod and are supplied with 2 x 25 mm PTFE coated stir bars.

AccuPlate Digital Hot Plates & Stirrers

AccuPlate digital hot plates and stirrers are powerful, versatile, and easy to use. Every unit is built for consistent performance and long-term reliability. Each AccuPlate has a Pyroceram® ceramic top plate that is extremely durable, resistant to chemical attack, and easy to clean.

The ceramic hotplates can reach temperatures up to 550° C and the white color of the plate makes it easy to view color changes in applications such as titrations. There is a powerful heating element positioned directly beneath the ceramic top plate providing optimal heat transfer to the plate and sample while minimizing heat transfer to the electronics and housing.

The stirrer and hotplate stirrer utilize a powerful motor driven system along with powerful magnets to ensure a consistent connection to the stir bar. The control software minimizes stir bar decoupling by regulating the acceleration rate of the motor.

    • Precise liquid temperatures and stirring speeds
    • Digital display and red "Hot Top" safety indicators
    • Durable cast aluminum housing, angled front panel, and large control knobs

Digital Hotplates, Stirrers, and Hotplate Stirrers

  • Large white ceramic top plate
  • Digital speed and temperature control
  • Safety LED indicates hot surface
  • Available with stir capacities up to 15 L
  • Control actual temperature (with optional probe)

Benchmark Scientific Hotplates and Stirrers provide reliable performance and safe operation for everyday laboratory use.  With two sizes (7 inch or 10 inch) to choose from, each model features a durable, chemical resistant, white ceramic top plate and advanced microprocessor controls.  The constant monitoring system provides precise control of temperature (heating models only) with rapid heating and faster boiling times.  In addition, the powerful motor drive system of the magnetic stirrer ensures efficient mixing in larger vessels and more viscous samples.
Temperature and/or mixing speed can be viewed at all times on the large digital display and safety LED illuminates when the top plate temperature exceeds 50°C.  An optional external temperature probe can be used for applications that require precise temperature control.  The probe provides direct feedback to the microprocessor with adjustments for maintaining the selected sample temperature within ±1°C.  An optional clamp assembly (H3770-CS) is available for mounting thermometers, temperature probes, etc.
