Figure 1: Thermal expansion of one-piece polypropylene plates. Polypropylene plates expand by up to 2mm during thermal cycling. Seal film or caps expand at different rates, leaving an opening for evaporation.

Figure 2: Illustration of Evaporation loss. Evaporation occurs most in the outside wells, increasing variability among wells and having an impact on pH and enzyme efficiency.
