SuperSlik® Low Retention tips have a proprietary modified polypropylene surface that limits the adhesion of cells, rDNA, proteins, and other viscous materials. Their accuracy and precision is up to 10 times better with viscous samples than standard non-wettable polypropylene. SuperSlik® tips are made from our own proprietary resin formulation that uses no additives or coatings that migrate into your samples. Unlike low retention tips from many others, SuperSlik® tips use no restricted chemicals and meet RoHS regulations. The resin helps increase the contact angle of fluids and lets you dispense the maximum amount of sticky DNA molecules. Introducing the SmartDoc 2.0 (Item no. E5001-SDB). This complete system has been developed for safely viewing nucleic acids in agarose gels and for capturing quality digital images with a smartphone camera.  Blue light is used instead of UV, which is safer for lab personnel and will not damage DNA samples.

The SmartDoc
 Imaging Enclosure can also be purchased separately (item no. E5000-SD) without the blue light illumination base.  The enclosure by itself can be used on most existing UV transilluminators or blue light transilluminators for smart phone imaging.

The illumination base emits an intense blue light with a peak output of 460 nm for optimum excitation of nucleic acids stained with green fluorescent dyes (SYBR® Green, SmartGlow, GelStar, GelGreen, etc). The orange cover fits on top of the illumination base and acts as a filter to absorb blue light, allowing visualization of the fluorescing samples. The cover can also be set at an angle for gel access and cutting out DNA bands for further study.

The SmartDoc imaging enclosure includes an orange photo filter for photography of the gels with a smartphone. An extending adapter can be inserted for full dimension imaging of gels up to 15 x 15 cm or removed for close-up pictures. The enclosure can also be used directly on any other existing UV or blue light transilluminator.  Additional filters are available for imaging gels on a UV transilluminator.  Please see our “Filter and User Guide” to show which filter is best for different imaging applications.

Accuris SmartBlue Plus Viewing Glasses offer exceptional protection for researchers working with bright blue LED and UV light illuminators. The polycarbonate filter lenses are shatter proof, scratch resistant and block light in the UV (280 nm) to blue (490 nm) wavelengths. In addition, they are compliant with ANSI Z87.1.

These glasses are ideal for general protection when working with hazardous wavelengths and for precision DNA band cutting on a UV or blue light transilluminator. While blocking hazardous UV and blue light, the glasses allow clear visualization of DNA bands stained with Ethidium Bromide, SmartGlow, SYBR Green and other fluorescent dyes.

Full Protection of Your Samples
 

Samples of proteins, other biological molecules, and cell cultures are commonly shipped and stored on dry ice, putting them at risk of acidification by up to 2.5 pH units. In standard centrifuge tubes, CO2 vapor from dry ice enters the tube headspace and causes a significant drop in the pH of the sample.

Even in short term storage conditions, samples may become acidified. This acidification can affect the integrity and reproducibility of samples, and may result in a loss of protein activity.

ProtectR tubes are the ideal vessel for primary and secondary sample containment. Samples are shipped on dry ice in a variety of volumes. When shipped in standard, small volume tubes, samples are at risk of acidifcation. ProtectR tubes can be used as a secondary shipping tube for multiple small volume tubes. With their airtight, leak-resistant secure seal, ProtectR tubes provide a protective barrier against CO2 exposure, safeguarding the sample(s) inside from costly damage. Only ProtectR tubes ensure consistent sample integrity and protein activity across experiments. Even if samples are delayed during shipping, they will not become compromised, saving time and money.

Most international and domestic carriers now require adherence to the IATA standards for all biological substance shipments. IATA 95 kPa certification ensures containers are leak-resistant under differential pressure conditions such as in air transport. This certification requires containers to prove capable of withstanding, without leakage, an internal pressure producing a pressure differential of not less than 95 kPa (0.95 bar, 13.8 psi).

ProtectR tubes feature our Patented ViewPoint labeling spot that helps to reduce smearing of lab markers at the same time it protects sample labeling from damage during storage or procedures.
