VitroGel® HEK293 is a xeno-free (animal origin-free) functional hydrogel system developed to support three-dimensional (3D) cultures of human embryonic kidney 293 (HEK293) cells.

VitroGel® HEK293 is a unique system to easily support the
rapid 3D growth of HEK293 cells. Cells
directly thawed from liquid nitrogen or passaged from 2D culture vessels can be
immediately mixed with the hydrogel solution for 3D static suspension cultures.
Both our standard 3D cell culture protocol and the 3D static suspension culture
protocols can be used for rapid cell expansion. The high-quality 3D spheroids
enhance the cell performance for protein expression and downstream
applications. HEK293 cells cultured in VitroGel® HEK293 can easily be scale-up
for large-scale bioreactors or spin flasks. By using the VitroGel® Cell
Recovery Solution, the cell harvesting after 3D culture is simple and
effective.

GelNest™ Matrix
GelNest™ Matrix is derived from mouse tumor tissue and contains extracellular matrix components such as laminin, type IV collagen, heparan sulfate proteoglycans, and more. These components support cell adhesion, differentiation, and proliferation, providing signals for these processes. Additionally, they simulate the characteristics of the basement membrane in the physiological environment, enhancing the success rate and effectiveness of cell culture.
In addition to the matrix components, GelNest™ Matrix is rich in various growth factors. These growth factors promote cell differentiation, proliferation, and migration, mimicking cellular signaling pathways and interactions in the physiological environment. GelNest™ Matrix has a wide range of applications, particularly in tissue engineering, cell culture, and research. It can be used for organoid culture, stem cell differentiation, angiogenesis, migration or invasion assays, and in vivo tumor studies.
Storage and Operation Instructions
To store GelNest™ Matrix, it is recommended to keep it in a -20°C freezer until ready for use. Prior to initial use, thaw the gel and divide it into single-use portions. Store these portions in a -80°C freezer for a maximum of 2 years. Please note that GelNest™ Matrix Gel should not be stored in a frost-free freezer.
GelNest™ Matrix is in a liquid state at 4°C and transitions into a gel state at 37°C. It starts to solidify into a gel when the temperature exceeds 10°C. For optimal performance, it is advised to pre-chill the pipette tips and conduct the procedures on ice.
GelNest™ Matrix Quality Assurance
- The protein concentration is guaranteed to be between 8 - 20 mg / mL
- The gel formation performance remains stable
- There are no LDEV (Lactate Dehydrogenase Elevated Virus), bacteria, or mycoplasma present for a high safety performance
- The endotoxin level is < 10 EU / mL
- Tests for organ-like structures and stem cell culture have been successfully performed.
- Tests for angiogenesis, tumor invasion, and tumor formation have been successfully conducted

VitroGel® Hydrogel Matrix is a ready-to-use, xeno-free (animal origin-free) functional hydrogel for 3D cell culture research. VitroGel® Hydrogel Matrix is an optimized formulation of multi-functional ligands and concentration to support a wide range of cell types for different applications.“Just Add Cells” – The hydrogel matrix is ready to mix with cell suspension directly.
There is no additional adjustment needed. VitroGel® Hydrogel Matrix closely mimics the natural extracellular matrix (ECM) environment to make cells feel more like at home. The hydrogel is room temperature stable, has a neutral pH, transparent, permeable and compatible with different imaging systems. The solution transforms into a hydrogel matrix by simply mixing with the cell culture medium. Cells cultured in this system can be easily harvested out with our VitroGel® Cell Recovery Solution. This user-friendly functional hydrogel creates an excellent balance of simplicity and versatility.
