The MP-1015 is the ideal Multi-Purpose gel box for both extended high resolution, linear runs, and economical quick screens. The MP-1015 contains buffer recirculation ports for long runs requiring recirculation. The MP-1015 is constructed of 3/8" thick, cast acrylic, to withstand high voltages and temperature extremes. Unlike single piece molded units, the MP1015 will NOT warp or crack during extended use. This unit is designed to provide years of continuous operation.

The maximum suggested applied voltage for the electrophoresis of DNA in agarose gels using the IB53000-MP1015 is 140 volts. In a 1% TBE gel, this translates into a run time of approx. 1 hour. Lower voltages can be used of course, and as a general rule a 70 volt run will take twice as long as a 140 volt run. Higher voltages can be used to decrease run time however, higher voltages can produce excessive heat and decrease sample resolution. |

Lower voltages may be used, of course, and as a general rule, a 50 volt setting will take twice as long as a 100 volt setting. |
The suggested run parameters for the electrophoresis of RNA in agarose gels containing formaldehyde are 60 - 80 volts. |

The IBI "Lab-Pal" has been designed with the teaching lab in mind. The IB50000 utilizes
two glass slides, measuring 2" x 3", for casting the agarose. The small glass slide
format is ideal for minimizing agarose use while still being an excellent teaching tool
for students just learning about the separation of DNA molecules.
Agarose slides can be cast days in advance and stored in buffer for later use. This helps maximize

The system is simple and self contained. A trapping system captures hydrogen bubbles created by electrolysis of the buffer at the cathode (-) end of the unit. As these bubbels move up the canted recirculation tube, they carry buffer along with them and provide a gentle and reliable recirculation system. This system is self regulating and no additional tubing or pumps are required.
