Azure Nitrocellulose Membranes

Pre-cut Nitrocellulose membrane for Western blotting

Low-fluorescence Nitrocellulose membranes are available in both 0.45 μm and 0.22 μm pore sizes to accommodate larger and smaller proteins, respectively. We recommend using the .45 µm pore size for the most analytical blotting: protein, ssDNA, and RNA transfers.

  • Low molecular weight proteins
  • Typically used for chemiluminescence
  • Not ideal for stripping
  • Excellent binding properties

Quantity: 10 membranes each

Azure PVDF Membranes

Pre-cut PVDF membranes for Western blotting applications

Ideal for chemiluminescent and colorimetric Western blotting. Pre-cut to save you time in the lab. These low-fluorescence PVDF membranes reduce background noise and nonspecific protein binding for improved sensitivity. Available in three different pre-cut sizes.

Quantity: 10 membranes per package

Features

Low-fluorescence PVDF membranes reduce background noise for improved sensitivity. PVDF (polyvinylidene difluoride) membranes are commonly used for immunoblotting techniques, like Western blots. During the blotting process, samples are transferred from the protein gel onto a PVDF membrane by electroblotting. From there they can be used for protein sequencing.

  • High binding capacity is great for low-expressing proteins
  • Typically used for fluorescence
  • High protein retention for stripping and reprobing

Azure ChemiWriter ECL Pen

Chemiluminescent pen for blot annotation

The Azure ChemiWriter ECL Western blot annotation pen is a chemiluminescent marker that enables you to write or draw on your transfer membranes, resulting in a chemiluminescent signal on your markings once substrate is added. Contains a reagent that reacts with HRP substrates to produce chemiluminescence and also a blue dye to allow you to see markings as you write on the Western blot.

Use for tracing visible protein ladders or making identifying marks on your Western blots. Pen has two tips on each end: one fine-tipped for thin markings and one thicker for depositing more of the reagent.

Quantity: 1 pen

Features

Enables you to write or draw on your transfer membranes. A chemiluminescent signal will be detectable from your markings once chemiluminescent substrate is added.

  • Use for tracing visible protein ladders or making identifying marks on your blots. Pen has two tips on each end: one fine-tipped for thin markings and one thicker for depositing more of the reagent.
  • There are two heads to the pen, a fine point tip and a thicker chisel point tip.
  • We recommend using the fine point tip to annotate the blot and mark protein ladders for detection.
  • The chisel point of the pen can be used to deposit an increased amount of reagent on the blot for more intense signal.
  • For best results we recommend annotating your blot after transfer and before starting your Western blotting protocol.
  • Once annotated, the blot may be stored dry or wet, refrigerated or at room temperature.
  • Storage: pen should be stored tightly closed at room temperature. ChemiWriter ECL reagent and blue ink markings on the blot are stable for at least three months.

Glow-Writer Pen

Glow Writeris a fine-point phosphorescent ink marking pen for making experimental notations and other markings on chemiluminescent and radioisotope-labeled substrate materials (e.g., transfer membranes, dried gels, genomic and proteomic matrices, etc.) being analyzed by X-ray film autography or electronic imaging. The unique marker delivers a phosphor-containing ink through a fine point porous nib. Before exposure to X-ray film, the phosphorescent writing is excited by room light. A phosphor ink having an optimum concentration of phosphor and a relatively short afterglow halflife (approximately 2-3 minutes) has been selected so that upon exposure to X-ray film, autographic exposures of almost any duration will be easily readable on the film. The fine point nib is easily replaceable if it dries out.

Fine-Point Phosphorescent Marking Pen for Laboratory Autography

  • Fine Point Nib- Provides fine writing and greater information density
  • Specially Designed- Ideal glow intensity and afterglow duration helps prevent over-andunder exposure
  • No Ink Clogs- Low ink viscosity and porous nib prevents ink from clogging

Protran nitrocellulose membranes are the most frequently specified transfer media in the world for a wide range of applications. Protran membranes are manufactured using 100% pure nitrocellulose to ensure the highest binding capacity possible. Other membranes referred to as "nitrocellulose" may actually contain large amounts of cellulose acetate, which will lower the protein binding capacity. In addition to high binding capacity, Protran nitrocellulose membranes inherently have very low background. The superior surface properties of the membrane guarantees superior signal-to-noise ratios, without the need for stringent washing conditions. Unlike PVDF membranes, Protran nitrocellulose requires no methanol pre-wetting step. This makes it the membrane of choice for proteins that prefer aqueous environments. Prior to transfer, the membrane is simply wet in water and then in the transfer buffer, with no other necessary pre-treatment steps. Protran membranes exhibit the best handling strangth of all pure nitrocellulose membranes.
Features:

  • High binding capacity (80-150g/cm2) of proteins and nucleic acids.
  • 100% pure nitrocellulose, with no cellulose acetate added, ensures the highest binding capacity possible.
  • Compatible with virtually all standard detection methods.
  • Low background - NC surface properties guarantee superior signal-to-noise ratios.
  • Triton-free matrix with low extractable levels will support the cell growth essential for colony blotting, plaque lifts, and tissue culture applications.
  • Available in many sizes and formats to fit different transfer devices and gel chambers.
