Disposable Spreaders

  • Spread cultures and liquids evenly
  • Smooth-edges – minimize “gouging”
  • 3 configurations: “L”, “T”, or Triangle
  • Ideal for bacterial CFU Counts
  • Pre-sterilized – no flaming required

All versions are supplied in sterile packaging, but are also autoclavable and have smooth, rounded edges to prevent unwanted cutting, scraping or gouging of agar during inoculation.

L-Shape:

The original spreaders are ideal for spreading bacteriological cultures evenly. The shape allows the user to rotate and apply easily throughout an entire round plate or dish. They are made of ABS and have a slight upward curve at the edge to prevent dragging or scraping.

T-Shape:

This shape ensures that consistently even pressure can be applied across the entire span of the 34 mm spreading surface. Designed for spreading and dispersing liquids across the surface of agar culture plates, they are made of ABS and commonly used for CFU plate counts on water, milk, urine, etc.

Triangle Shape:

This new design is also used for CFU count applications, but has a grooved handle that improves grip and orientation. Made of polypropylene, they are available with a 30 mm span or an extra large 60 mm span.

Sterile Disposable Inoculating Loops & Needles

These sterile disposable plastic loops and needles are designed for use in quantitative procedures such as sampling, urine counts and serial dilutions, as well as for bacterial inoculation. Because they are pre-sterilized and designed for single use, there is no risk of cross contamination and no need for flaming. They are flexible enough for streaking, yet rigid enough for subsurface inoculation.

The unique hexagonal shape of the shaft makes it easier to grip, orientate and guide through a smooth streaking process. The loop surfaces are extremely smooth with no rough edges and no flashing or burrs on the loop head. This results in the elimination of cutting or gouging of the agar surface.

Sterile, disposable and verifiably accurate, these loops provide an efficient, cost-effective and time-saving alternative to traditional metallic loops.

ASSTERILEDILOONEED

Our Inoculating Loops and Needles are smooth and flexible to facilitate uniform, smooth streaking without damage to media/gel surfaces. The needles are straight and suitable for removal of single colony specimens. The loops are extra-smooth and constructed of polypropylene and rubber. Both the loops and needles are packed sterile in safe, tamper-proof, zip-seal resealable bags. Cross contamination due to improper sterilization is eliminated. They can be used under hoods without danger, are color coded for ease of size identification, and are extra long to reduce the risk of contamination. Certificate of conformity is available upon request.

Total Length: 22.7cm (9)

Transfer Pipettes
  • Transparent, nontoxic and inert
  • Precise, uniform drop size
  • Shatter-proof and unbreakable
  • Can be used with LN2 (-196° C)
  • Heat Sealable

These unbreakable, one-piece pipettes eliminate contaminated rubber bulbs, broken glass and exposure to infectious materials. They are made of ultra-clear, low density polyethylene (LDPE) and are ideal for microbiology, blood banking, hematology, immunology, and urinalysis. Sterile pipettes are excellent for tissue culture application. Their low-affinity surface reduces sample, cell or protein loss.

Whether you make your selection based on length, build draw, pipette capacity or number of drops per ml, one of these ten designs is likely to be suitable for your application. Some have ultra-fine extended tips (P4113, P4117,P4121, P4122, P4133) that allow for extremely precise dispensing and access into the narrowest vessels. They can also be heat sealed for airtight sample storage. Their uniform drop size can be used for reproducible spotting of gels & TLC plates, and for dispensing into test plates, ID strips, PCR tubes or 96 well plates.

Accuris SmartReader™ UV-Vis Microplate Reader

The Accuris SmartReader™ UV-Vis Microplate Reader (model MR9610) has been designed with ease-of-use and fast results in mind. This instrument brings extensive capabilities to the lab bench and is designed for the busy lab with multiple users. The large touch screen command center is extremely user-friendly and allows for fast set up of new protocols, as well as modifying and running existing protocols.

  • Intuitive, 10-inch color touch screen control panel
  • Accepts both 96 & 384-well plates
  • Monochromator-based system
    • No filters required
    • Wavelength range from 200 to 1000 nm
  • Stand-alone design
    • No PC or special software required
    • USB port for flash drive data transfer

Monochromator technology … no filters needed

The monochromator-based optical system allows for precise selection of wavelengths from 200nm to 1000nm, with no filters required. This range makes the SmartReader UV-Vis™ useful not only for typical ELISA , Bradford Lowry, and turbidity assays but also for more advanced applications such as quantitation of nucleic acids and proteins. The SmartReader™ UV-Vis can be set for Endpoint, Kinetic and Spectral Scanning assays.

High Throughput Capability

The MR9610 is designed for efficient processing of multiple samples and
accepts standard 96 well plates as well as 384 well plates for high density
screening. The plate layout interface allows for a quick and intuitive setup of a plate well’s contents. Users can highlight and label multiple wells to save time. The display shows a graphical representation of the plate. Users can label each well as required for: “known standard”, “unknown sample”, “blank well” , “QC Control well”, “positive control”, “negative control”, and “empty”.

Optimized results with plate shaking and incubation

Controllable plate shaking and incubation allow for optimization of assay results. The shaking speed can be controlled at different intensities with options for timed and pulsed shaking before a reading, or in between readings when performing a kinetic assay. The linear motion efficiently and uniformly mixes all samples in both 96 and 384 well plates. Temperature can be controlled from ambient +5C up to 45C, allowing for the processing of enzyme kinetics, and bacterial growth assays.”

SmartDrop™ Accessory Plate

Absorbance measurements of exceptionally small volumes (<0.5ul) can be achieved using the SmartDrop™ Accessory Plate. The SmartDrop™ plate accommodates up to 16 samples and is ideal for checking nucleic acid concentrations and purity for Next Gen Sequencing, or protein concentrations.
