Whether you are looking for a single-mode or a multimode plate reader, MIDSCI can help. We carry low-cost readers that don’t sacrifice quality, performance, or reliability. We also sell the top-rated PerkinElmer microplate readers: Victor® Nivo™, EnSight, and EnVision.
Let our scientific equipment experts at MIDSCI help you select which model fits your current and anticipated needs. Simply fill out our contact form or email us at tech@midsci.com
About Microplate Readers
A microplate reader detects light signals of samples in microplates or well plates. Depending on the intended use of the plate reader, there are multiple features and functionalities to select from at varying price points. From detection modes to plate layouts, determining the right reader for your lab is critical.
If you are looking for a low-cost microplate reader for absorbance range from -0.2 to 4.000 ABS, a wide wavelength range from 340 to 750 nm, or a Luminator, we can help. These units are ideal for performing ELISAs, tube based immune assays, drug assays, and so much more.
At MIDSCI, we carry all the latest detection technologies from MIDSCI and Perkin Elmer, including:
The Victor® Nivo™ has the smallest and most affordable multimode plate reader in the industry. It is certified for use with HTRF© technology and is best for research labs with multiple users and low-throughput assays.
The EnSight is an all-in-one benchtop system for fast well imaging, Alpha and conventional detection technologies. Ideal for research and assay development labs performing cell-based assay at medium-throughput.
The EnVision is the fastest benchtop reader, certified for with HTRF© technology, and for screening or assay development labs needing high-throughput capability.
If you need a compact and economical microplate reader that works with your computer without a hitch, then the Chromate microplate reader is a good choice.
Yet if you want some convenient artificial intelligence on your side, then take a look at the Accuris microplate reader instead. It has an intuitive screen and provides measurement data, interpretations, and calculated analyses on the screen after a reading.

SmartReader™ 96 Microplate Absorbance Reader
- Intuitive, 7-inch color touchscreen control panel
- Filter-based system with wavelength range from 340 to 750 nm
- Operates as a stand-alone system, with USB flash drive for data transfer
- Absorbance range: 0.0 to 4.0000 Abs
- 8-channel vertical optical path, with zero dispersion
- Integrated, multi-speed plate shaker
- MR9600-T features temperature-controlled plate incubation
The Accuris™ SmartReader™ 96 MR9600 and MR9600-T are welcome additions to any lab that is routinely measuring concentration or absorbance in 96 well plates. The 7-inch touchscreen, intuitive software and graphical interface make these instruments easy to use as a standalone reader (a separate computer and additional software are not required).
The SmartReader™ 96 comes complete with 4 popular filters: 405, 450, 492, 630 nm, and twenty-six additional filters are available separately to cover a full range from 340 to 750 nm. The integrated filter wheel allows up to 8 filters to be loaded at once, and filters can be selected during programming

Up to two filters can be used for 2 measurements of the sample plate, for calculated comparisons. Kinetic calculations can be performed by setting multiple readings.
The SmartReader™ 96 is a convenient stand-alone reader, all software and the programing system is incorporated into the electronics. However, a convenient USB port on the side allows quick and easy saving of data files to a USB drive, and the universal .csv files can then be shared or transferred to a computer for storage or further processing. A data port can be used for connecting a computer or basic printer.
The plate layout interface allows for quick and intuitive setup of a plate's well contents. The display shows a graphical representation of the 96-well plate, and the user can label each well as required for: "known standard", "unknown sample", "blank well", "QC control well", "negative control", "positive control", or "empty". The interface allows highlighting and labeling multiple wells to save time.
Measurement data is available immediately on the screen after reading, as well as interpretations, calculated analysis, and curve fittings.

STAT FAX 4200 Microplate Reader
The Stat Fax 4200 Microplate Reader is a compact, microprocessor-controlled, multi-purpose
photometer system designed to read and calculate the results of assays, which are read in 96
well microtiter plates or strip trays. The microplate reader may be used for in-vitro diagnostics. It is a user-programmable open system with selectable plate formatting, alphanumeric test naming, automatic interpretation options, duplicate well options, curve plotting and editing, flags and error messages from which the user can create a menu of pre-programmed assays for instant recall. This instrument is intended to be used as a stand-alone instrument without a PC but it has a connection in the event a user wishes to download results.
Stat Fax 4200 reads monochromatically (optional) or bichromatically (optional) and has two
models:
- Four-filter model (405, 450, 492, and 630 nm)
- Six-filter VIS model (405, 450, 492, 545, 600, and 630 nm)
Substitute filters in the range of 405 nm – 750 nm are available on special order
models.
Stat Fax 4200 accepts all standard microplates. Trays containing microstrips may also be read
whether they are 12 wells in length, 8 wells or even partial strips.
The software allows the operator to create, edit and store assays. Standard
curves are also stored in this memory. Test protocols remain stored until either changed or
deleted by the user.
TheStat Fax 4200’s optical system provides an economical and low maintenance design which reads 8 wells simultaneously. A 96 well plate can be read and printed in the absorbance mode in approximately ten seconds. Light from a lamp installed in a sealed light-tight compartment is filtered using a rotating filter wheel. The filtered light is then divided into 8 channels using a fiber optic bundle. The plate carrier precisely positions each row of 8 wells into the optical path for reading. Light passing through the 8 wells is directed to 8 photo-detectors. The filter wheel moves to a second position to read the 8 wells at a second wavelength. Using bichromatic differential absorbance values corrects for optical imperfections in the plastic wells and removes the effects of meniscus and turbidity.

STAT FAX 3300 Biochemistry Analyzer
Stat Fax® 3300 is designed for the processing of biochemistries, tube method immune assays, and drug assays from human serum, plasma, or urine. A removable flowcell installs in the read well to provide extremely rapid fluid sampling with low carryover. A builtin vacuum pump and an external waste bottle with level sensing are supplied standard. When the Flowcell is removed, the instrument accepts standard 12 mm round tubes as well as 1 cm square cuvettes. The design of the instrument includes many features to minimize operator error, such as stable factory calibration, automatic zeroing, complete operator prompting, detailed labeling, pre-programmed calculations, visual and audible
feedback, flags and error messages, minimal maintenance requirements. Test parameters, and standard curves are stored in memory for later recall. The Stat Fax® 3300 will store up to 120 tests in memory to be recalled for later use and allows for creation of Levey-Jennings plots for QC. In addition, it will store 512 Patient Results, 512 Control Results, 20 Patients on Worklist, and 15 tests per patient.
