5 mL Microcentrifuge Tubes with Snap Cap

5 mL centrifuge tubes from MIDSCI. These polypropylene tubes come with an attached cap that provides a leakproof seal and can be effortlessly opened with one hand. The cap is designed to provide a secure seal from -86°C to 180°C. In incubated, heating applications, the tube may be boiled for up to 10 minutes. A cap lock is available for temperatures above 80°C (C1005-T5-CAP). The tubes are made of maximum clarity, low-binding virgin polypropylene and are certified RNase and DNase-free. Sterile tubes are also available and packaged in bags of 10 tubes.
 
The 16 mm diameter is identical to the diameter of standard 15 mL tubes, which ensures further compatibility with centrifuge rotors and other applications. Compared to 15 mL tubes, the threat of pipettor shaft contamination is greatly reduced as the 56 mm total tube length (compared to 120 mm for 15 mL conicals) is short enough for standard 1 mL tips to reach the 5 mL tubes conical bottom.

The syringe port in the cap is not only useful for needle and syringe access but also can be useful for venting internal pressure that has built up due to incubation at higher temperatures.
